I was googling "bishop dresses and blogs" and found you! I have learned to smock and am learning to sew - that's taking longer than desired! I see you said you sell ready-to-smock dresses? Could you contact me and let's talk? My email address is:

I'm VERY interested! Thanks!

Hi. I'm new to sewing. Is it hard to make those bishop dresses? What pattern do you use?

Thanks,

Gabriela

I use the Chery Williams pattern for bishops, you have to add some length, but I find it easier to use than the Ellen McCarn version of the bishop dress. I wouldn't call making a bishop dress easy for a beginner becuase it has many of the heirloom sewing techniques that take a little practice to master. Look to see if they offer a class at a local sewing store of how to put a bishop together, once you "get it" then it is like riding a bicycle. I haven't made one in months and wouldn't even have to get the directions out to put one together. Good Luck Gabriela
